COLES NOTES VERSION:
Well-conceived (crowd-funded!) and well-made 30W USB-C and 2.4A 5V USB-A charger with innovative plug design. 3-year warranty gives confidence, but missing multiple ports, USB QC fast charging and higher-powered 61W USB-C charging for power-hungry laptops.
WHAT IS IT?
Convenient USB-C and USB-A charger
WHY IT MATTERS:
Travel-worthy, multi-angle plug
WHO IT’S FOR:
My sister – simple, Macbook owner with a phone. Not for sharing 😉
REVIEW:
Pros:
- build quality
- 3-year warranty
- travel-worthy
- innovative multi-angle plug
- includes international travel plugs
Cons:
- Only 1 USB-A and 1 USB-C port
- raised plug design
- Max USB-C is 30W
From this good review:
“Another important caveat: when you’re using both of the plugs on the adapter, the power adapter limits both ports to ~1.8A (instead of ~3.0A). This means that if you are trying to charge and use a MacBook Pro (which needs at least ~2.4A to recharge while in use), my MacBook Pro may actually have a net loss of battery charge unless the usage is very light, and the screen is dimmed;”
Wishlist:
Make various models available with:
– more ports
– USB QC fast charging
– higher USB-C power rating suitable for charging power-hungry Macbook Pros
CONCLUSION:
Convenient, well-made and designed charger for those with modest USB-C & USB-A charging needs. Looking forward to seeing this company create other versions with more ports and power options to truly create “One USB charger to rule them all.”
