Hey this is Dave from dqstudios and today we’re taking a look at the IFOOTAGE Shark Nano II Motorized Camera Slider.
SPOILER FIRST
I’ve purchased and reviewed more motorized sliders than anyone in their right mind should. I’ve always been smitten by the promise of perfectly smooth camera movements to elevate my commercial and documentary films, and just couldn’t resist the urge to spurge thinking, “If I just owned this peice of gear, it will let me stand out from the rest.” Sadly the reality of most motorized sliders was long setup times, flaky app connectivity, or worse: janky movements. But the latest generation of motorized sliders have solved alot of greivances I’ve had with past models. My latest slider, the IFOOTAGE Shark Slider Nano 2, is the best yet. Not only is it a super-stable and fast motorized slider, but it has deep integration with many DJI gimbals with nato data ports (as of this post this includes the Ronin 2, 3 Pro, 4 and 4 Pro models) and the ubiquitous Pocket 3, making it my favourite slider ever, and that’s saying something.
DISCLOSURE
Before we get to the review, full disclosure: I was sent this product without charge, but without strings attached too. So as always, I’ll be sharing my honest thoughts – good and bad – giving you the details so you can make your own informed decision. As always, you’ll find links and updates in the description.
WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL:
There are other motorized sliders that I’ve reviewed that can match the strength, length and speed of slides and panning setup of the IFOOTAGE Shark Slider Nano II, but none of them have collaborated and deeply integrated with DJI.
Who cares? DJI has defined the industry standard for gimbals for years, and while you can use the IFOOTAGE Shark Slider Nano II solo as a great motorized slider with integrated panning head, if you own (or wish to own) a DJI gimbal including the Ronin 2, 3 pro, 4 or 4 Pro (excludes mini versions and 3), you can add motorized tilt with push-to-tilt function which makes the IFOOTAGE Shark Slider Nano 2 the best motorized slider on the market for most.
And with their latest addition of the optional DJI Pocket 3 Adapter kit, you can use your Pocket 3 to capture unique angles in tight spaces. Better yet, add a magic arm and you can capture moves impossible with a regular camera setup.
WHY IT MATTERS
Other systems have cumbersome motors to add pan and tilt axis controls, while this one leverages the gimbal you’re most likely to already own (or is on your gear wishlist), making it faster to setup and more versatile in use, as your freehand gimbal can now be paired with this motorized slider for smooth, versatile movements.
WHO IT’S FOR
This is useful for any video creator who wants to record smooth movements for macro, product, room shots and interviews.
WHY SHOULD YOU TRUST ME?
I’ve been a fulltime content creator for over 23 years, and am a self-professed gear-nerk and admittedly suffer from GAS (gear acquisition syndrom). I’ve own both manual and motorized sliders ranging from Edelkrones, Syrp, Accsoon and others, and have reviewed many of them in the past on my Youtube channel.
Pros
-
Build quality: This is not their first slider, and it shows. With its full metal chassis, big on-board screen, and strong mounting points for both vertical and horizontal use, this slider gives me confidence it the field.
-
integrated slider and pan motor – makes for a very usable setup without any additional products.
-
max linear speed is faster than many other sliders I’ve used
-
Powering options: NPF battery (my preferred method to reduce cable tangles) or USBC PD (great for permanent studio use)
-
On-Screen controls – no app required to set up to 8 waypoints.
-
Mounting Positions make it very quick to convert from horizotal to vertical slides.
-
Goldilocks length: easy enough to pack in a car with usable range, while also being stable on a solo slider stand in both vertical and horizontal orientations.
-
very smooth suitable even for close-up macro work
-
INNOVATION: push-to-tilt integration with compatible DJI Ronin Gimbals (2, 3 Pro, 4 and 4 Pro variants only; not compatible with 3 and mini variants).
-
INNOVATION: Joystick integration with DJI Pocket 3: get into tight spaces to capture moves difficult or impossible to capture with any other slider system.

Cons
-
limited length of travel (approximately 9.2” for the short version and 17” of travel). But increasing the length of the slider (18.2” and 26.1”) would be a compromise of portability, stability and weight. I find the current offerings an acceptable balance of rigidity to usefulness and portability, but would love to see a longer version with 24” of travel. But that would likely not be stable on one slider stand, and would increase setup time, footprint and ease of use. So it’s truly a tradeoff of length, smoothness and speed/ease of use.
-
Max weight for vertical slides means you likely can’t use a gimbal when used vertically. But … with Pocket 3 integration you can get vertical, underslung or angled moves with ease.
-
multiple button press commands can be fiddly, but you soon get used to how it responds (or my touchscreen seems to have gotten more responsive with use).
The Competition
- many competitors have integrated motorized slide and pan control, but nobody has partnered with DJI to add push-to-set tilt and pan with compatible gimbals and even the ubiquitous Pocket 3. These innovations make the IFOOTAGE Shark Nano 2 Motorized Camera Slider the best motorized slider video creators. No gimbal? No problem: the base unit includes motorized slide and pan movements. A gimbal on your video gear wishlist? Even better: pick up a used or new compatible DJI RS 2, 2 Pro, 3 Pro, 4 or 4 Pro, and instantly upgrade your slider with push-to-set tilt and pan movements. Want to get unique angles and slide safely where others can’t? Get the optional Pocket 3 adapter and shoot unique angles like noone else.
Tips and Recommendations
-
For the fastest starup time: store the slider with the carriage near the control unit – this will speed up the self-calibration time a LOT.
-
Attach your camera directly to the slider without even a tripod head. This is actually how I use it in many real-world scenarios where I only need slides with pans, and simplifies and speeds setup time. Try it for both horizontal and vertical use.
-
Use a kupo slider stand instead of a tripod and Get two Baby Ball adapters to quickly change from horizontal to vertical slides
-
Turn on the centre Crosshairs on your camera LCD or monitor to allow for quick centering of your focal point
-
Try turning off in-camera stabilization to reduce / remove jittery movements at the end of slides.
The Bottom Line
So what’s the bottom line? As of the recording of this video (first quarter of 2026), The IFOOTAGE Shark Nano II is the fastest, most versatile, expandable and easy to use motorized slider I’ve ever used. Whether you’re using it as-is out of the box, or paired with a compatible DJI gimbal, the IFOOTAGE Shark Nano II Motorized Camera Slider stands alone in being able to produce smooth slides quickly, while also expanding your options with the industry-standard gimbal you already (or want to) own. Unless your specific shoot requires longer slides, this is the slider I would 100% recommend.
